The 2013 season marks Kareem Jackson's 13th season in coaching. He became SIUE's head coach in 2009 after spending one season as an assistant coach for the Cougars. Jackson will look to take his team far into the postseason at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships and the NCAA Division I Championships.

The Cougars have rewritten the school's record book in Jackson's years at the helm. SIUE student-athletes have broken more than 30 records and entered the Top Three All-Time list in nearly every event. This past season Darius Smith competed at the U.S. Junior Nationals at 200 meters. Jatavia Wright also qualified for the U.S. Junior Championships in the 100 hurdles.

Thrower Ben Bishop (thrower) qualified for the 2010 U.S. Indoor Championships, and William Lindsey (hurdles) qualified for the Junior U.S. Championships in both hurdle events.

Under Jackson, the NCAA named the 2009, 2010, and 2011 women's track and field team to the All-Academic team.

A native of Chicago, Jackson served as an Assistant Coach at Thornridge High School for three years before jumping to the collegiate ranks. Jackson spent the next two years as an assistant at the University of Chicago. He coached sprints, hurdles, and jumps while with the Maroons, and helped guide two athletes to school records. He also coached numerous University Athletic Association conference champions.

In addition to his duties at Chicago, Jackson was the head coach of a USATF track club where he coached 35 All-Americans, two national champions, and one national record holder.

Jackson served as Assistant Coach at Patriot League affiliate Lafayette College in Easton, Penn., for three seasons working primarily with the sprints, hurdles, and jumps. There he coached 11 Patriot League Champions, eight athletes to school records, 35 ICAC/ECAC qualifiers, six NCAA East Regional qualifiers. One student-athlete was a U.S. Junior Nationals qualifier in the 100-meter hurdles under Jackson's guidance.

A member of the United States Track Coaches Association, Jackson holds a Level I coaching certification as well as a Level II coaching certification in sprints, hurdles, and jumps. Jackson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in general studies and mathematics from Lewis University in 2002.
