EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – With the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships looming on the last weekend in February, the final tuneup for the indoor season is this weekend.

Most of SIUE's track and field student-athletes will compete at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan. Julian Harvey, however, will be heading south to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, aiming to compete against top national talent in the long jump and the triple jump.  Harvey enters the meet ranked No. 12 nationally in the long jump.

At the GVSU Big Meet, Keith Meyer and Matt O'Connor will be running in the events in which they previously broke records with Meyer competing in the 5,000 and O'Connor taking on the 800.

The SIUE women also are looking to better their position for the OVC Championships, which will be held Feb. 24-25 in Charleston, Illinois. Nichyria Byrd has the second-best long jump in the OVC at 19 feet, 2.75 inches.

Megan Lauzon also is among the top five in the OVC in both the shot put and the weight throw. Claire Nolan joins her in the top five in the shot put while Lizzie Virgl, the OVC Field Athlete of the Week, is among the top five in the weight throw.
