SIUE's Jackson Named Assistant Coach at Wisconsin

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE track and field and cross country coach Kareem Jackson has been named an assistant track and field coach at the University of Wisconsin.

Jackson has led the SIUE program since 2009 and has been with the Cougars since 2007. He will be in charge of sprinters and hurdlers for the Badgers. He rejoins former SIUE track and field Head Coach and current Wisconsin Assistant Coach David Astrauskas who he succeeded at SIUE.

SIUE cross country Head Coach Eileen McAllister has been named the interim head coach for the men's and women's track and field teams.

SIUE made the move to NCAA Division I competition under Jackson's watch and quickly made its mark on the national stage. The Cougars advanced their first student-athlete to the NCAA Division I Championships under Jackson's tutelage. La'Derrick Ward competed in the long jump at the 2013 Championships.

"Kareem's leadership for the men's and women's track and field program will be missed. We wish him well at Wisconsin," said Dr. Brad Hewitt, SIUE's Director of Athletics. "He was exactly what we needed for the transition process, a person of integrity, values, work ethic, and commitment to our University mission."
