SIUE Pair Named OVC Athletes of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE's Thayer Harrison (Springfield) and Aftan Noon (Forsyth) were named Ohio Valley Conference Athletes of the Week following the Joey Haines Invitational over the weekend.

Harrison received recognition as OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after his record-breaking performance. The freshman broke the school triple jump record with an event-winning leap of 48 feet, 9 inches. His jump is the best in the OVC during the outdoor season.

Noon was honored as OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week behind her second-place performance in the 1,500 meters. The junior ran the event in 4 minutes, 36.04 seconds, which tops the OVC Bests List.

This is the first track honor for Noon, who was named OVC Runner of the Week in the final week of the cross country season last fall.

Harrison shares the award with SEMO's Josh Uchtman while Noon shares the honor with SEMO's Jerika Lewis.

The Cougars return to action April 14 at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky.
