DES MOINES, Iowa. - SIUE redshirt freshman William Lindsey was unable to reach the finals of the 110-meter hurdles Friday morning at the 102nd running of the Drake Relays.
The SIUE record holder in the event, Lindsey finished his heat in a time of 15.13 seconds to place 17th overall in the preliminary round.
"Will had a great warm-up and had an opportunity to run fast," SIUE Head Coach Kareem Jackson said. "Sometimes in track, things don't work as planned, but at least he has a chance to come back here and compete three more times."
Terence Somerville of Cincinnati turned in the fastest qualifying time at 13.86 seconds.
The only other Cougar competing in the prestigious event is Ben Bishop. The senior from Cantrall will enter the ring Saturday at 12:30 p.m. for the hammer throw. He currently has the seventh best throw (221 feet, 4 inches) in NCAA Division I.
