Jacob Perkins Signs NLI for Cougar Men

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE men's tennis Head Coach Jason Coomer announced the signing of Jacob Perkins (Sellersburg, Ind.) to a National Letter of Intent. Perkins will join the Cougars for the 2012-13 season.

"We couldn't be happier to have Jacob join our program," Coomer said. "He comes from a high school that has a rich history in Indiana tennis. In addition, the level of success that Jacob has enjoyed through his USTA experience has been extremely impressive."

A 2010 Indiana All-State first team selection, Perkins was ranked No. 62 in the Midwest Region and No. 3 in Indiana for boys 16s that year. He was also named to the All-State second team in 2009 after receiving honorable mention honors in 2008.

"An aspiring engineer, Jacob's focus in the classroom matches his focus on the court which is a quality we look for throughout our recruiting efforts," Coomer added.

Perkins, a three-time All-District first team honoree, has played the No. 1 singles position for Silver Creek High School where he has been named team Most Valuable Player the last three seasons.

"We look for Jacob to come in and make immediate contributions," Coomer said. "I have no doubt that his work ethic will put him in a position to be successful from the first day he steps on campus."
