EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The SIUE men's tennis team will return to action this weekend with matches in Kentucky and Tennessee. Last week, the Cougars match was cancelled against UM-Kansas City.
The Cougars will enter the weekend with a 3-7 record. They went 1-3 during the weekend of February 14th, including four straight doubles wins by Michael Chamberlain and Paulo Gonzalez. Gonzalez is currently 10-3 in singles competition.
Saturday's match will be in Murray, Ky., where the Cougars will go up against the Murray State Racers, a future Ohio Valley Conference opponent. The Racers are coming off a loss to Southern Illinois University Carbondale and now have a 1-5 record on the year. Murray State's only win of the season has come at home against in-state rival Western Kentucky. The match will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Purcell Tennis Courts.
On Sunday, the Cougars will continue the two match road trip and face the Belmont Bruins in Nashville, Tenn. The Bruins enter the weekend with a two-match winning streak as they defeated Western Kentucky and Samford on the road. This will be the first home match of the season for the Bruins, 4-3.
The first serve is set to begin at the Davis Complex at 1 p.m.
