Cougars Travel to Memphis, UAB

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's soccer takes to the road to face Memphis after three weeks at home.
Memphis comes into the game with a 4-8 record. The Cougars take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
SIUE, 4-5, is coming off its first and only home regular season game of the season, a 2-0 win over McKendree. Jack Twellman (St. Louis) and Chris Anzalone (St. Peters, Mo.) scored for the Cougars.
"We are looking forward to the second half of the season," Coach Kevin Kalish said. "After three weeks at home we have been able to charge our batteries and get ready for the road."
Anzalone leads the Cougars with three goals, followed by Bob Ridder and Twellman with two goals each.
Continuing to be solid in the goal for the Cougars is senior Nick Frasca, who has tallied 33 saves, holds a 1.43 goals against average and has posted two shutouts.
SIUE has taken 106 shots and scored 13 goals for the season, while the Cougars have allowed opponents to score 12 goals on 122 shots.
"Our guys have been playing sharp soccer in the last couple weeks," Kalish said. "We are playing at a peak level at this point of the season."
The Cougars will be going against Michael Goodlett in goal for Memphis.. Goodlett has allowed a 1.37 goals against average on the season with 50 saves and one shutout.
"We have continued to get better as a team and becoming more comfortable in their roles," Kalish said. "Everybody has understood what is expected of them in games."
The Cougars will travel next to Birmingham, Ala., Saturday to take on Alabama-Birmingham at 7 p.m. UAB is 4-7-2 on the season and comes into the game off a Wednesday contest against Southern Methodist.
"We are looking forward to the challenged that Memphis and UAB will present." Kalish said. "We are focused and ready to get out and play."
