Mike Kelley

An All-American midfielder in 1978, Mike Kelley played two seasons with the Cougars. Kelley made his SIUE debut in 1977, leading the Cougars to a 12-4-1 record and a third-place finish in the NCAA Division I Tournament. In 1978, the Cougars finished with a 14-3-1 record and a No. 6 national ranking. Kelley then turned his attention to the United States national team and became a member of the 1979 World University Games team. He played professionally for the Indianapolis Daredevils of the American Soccer League and the St. Louis Steamers of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Kelley returned to SIUE and was named the head coach of the women's program in 1984, posting a five-year record of 45-32-4.
