Mon., Sept. 4, 7 p.m.
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's soccer returns to Korte Stadium Monday night. The Cougars are seeking their first win of the season. SIUE will meet the Memphis Tigers, of the American Athletic Conference.
The Cougars (0-3-0) are coming off a 2-1 loss Saturday on the road at Lipscomb. All three of the SIUE's losses have come by one goal.
"It's nice to have a quick turnaround," SIUE Head Coach Mario Sanchez said. "And to have the opportunities to get better as individuals."
Memphis (0-2-1) also is seeking its first win of the year. The Tigers are coming off a 1-0 loss Saturday to Kentucky at home. The Tigers opened the year with a scoreless draw at Belmont and have not scored a goal this year.
"We take this game as another opportunity to face a strong opponent," Sanchez said. "It's another opportunity to learn about ourselves and to continue to get better."
This is the fourth consecutive year the two teams have met in men's soccer. Memphis leads the all-time series 6-5-1. The Cougars have a 2-3-1 record in the series in six meetings since returning to Division I in 2008.
