EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's soccer takes to the road for the first time this season when it faces Lipscomb in a 7 p.m. game Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Cougars (0-2-0) are coming off a weekend in which they dropped a pair of one-goal games at home to nationally-ranked opponents. SIUE fell to No. 22 Michigan State 1-0 Friday, before falling 2-1 to No. 8 Syracuse Sunday.
"Our approach still is to get better every day," SIUE Head Coach Mario Sanchez said. "We analyzed the video from the weekend and saw a lot of things we like. Obviously we need to continue to develop our whole game."
Lipscomb is 1-1-0 this year with its win coming at home over Niagara last Friday. The Bisons dropped a 3-0 match at South Florida Monday night.
"Their front four attacking guys are very good," Sanchez said. "They are very technical. They can hurt you if you're not tuned in."
The Cougars and Bisons have split two previous meetings. Last year, Lipscomb dealt SIUE a heart-breaking 1-0 setback at Korte Stadium, netting the game-winner with just more than a minute to play in the second overtime. SIUE earned a 3-2 win at Korte Stadium in 2011.
"We have a process-oriented plan," Sanchez added. "We analyze ourselves not only on the result. It's showing that we are playing well and that we have gotten better. Now it's about putting together that 90-minute game. If we do that, good things will happen."
There is not a live broadcast of Saturday's game. Live stats are available at SIUEStats.com.
