SENIOR NIGHT: Please join the Cougars in congratulating and honoring the nine seniors on this year's roster who will be playing in their final regular season home contest. The seniors are Jordan Barnes, Ryan Bauer, Brian Groark, Benny Jeffery, Peter Kelly, Aaron Lantz, Devon Newport, Kevin Stoll, and Jared Tejada.
SCOUTING DRAKE: The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 4-9-3 record and are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at Bradley. Drake opened the Missouri Valley Conference season with a 0-0 tie against Creighton and is now 1-1-1 in league play. The Bulldogs have shown some depth this season with 19 players who have played at least 10 games. There have been 25 different players who have played at least one game. Michael Thaden is the team's leading scorer with five goals and one assist. Rich Gallagher has been in net for Drake and holds a 1.70 goals against average with an MVC-leading 89 saves.
THE SERIES VS. DRAKE: SIUE leads the series 6-4. The Bulldogs won last year's match 2-0 in Des Moines, Iowa.
MVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sophomore forward Christian Volesky earned Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors after SIUE's wins over Bradley and Missouri State. Volesky scored SIUE's fourth of four goals against Bradley and followed that performance up by scoring both SIUE's goal in a 2-1 win over Missouri State. Volesky leads the MVC in scoring with eight goals and is 27th in the nation overall.
RECOGNITION FOR LANTZ: Aaron Lantz was on the radar for College Soccer News after his two-goal performance in a 4-1 win over Bradley. The Cougar defender scored from 35 yards out and 15 yards out and was selected to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week.
RPI: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a key statistical tool the NCAA Tournament Committee uses to determine at-large berths to the national championships. SIUE is ranked No. 23 in the nation in the RPI. The other rankings in the Missouri Valley Conference include Creighton (17th), Bradley (76th), Evansville (94th), Drake (123rd), Missouri State (142nd), and Central Arkansas (147th).
NATIONAL SCENE: SIUE returned to the TopDrawerSoccer.com listing of the Top 48 - teams projected to make the NCAA Tournament. SIUE is listed as No. 39. The Cougars also are receiving votes in the College Soccer News national poll.
STATE FARM MVC TOURNAMENT: The State Farm Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer tournament will be played at Peoria, Ill., Nov. 7-11. The top six teams qualify.
