EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The SIUE men's golf team has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as an "All-Academic Team" for achieving a combined GPA of 3.0 or better for the past school year.

"This is a great honor to be named a GCAA All-Academic Team," Head Coach Derrick Brown said. "Our guys have worked really hard in the classroom, and it is really paying off."

DePaul was chosen as the GCAA Academic National Champion, earning a combined GPA of 3.66. Five other schools were honored with President's Special Recognition for having a GPA of 3.5 or better. In total, just 59 Division I schools were honored by the GCAA.

The award is the second academic award the Cougars have claimed in recent weeks. SIUE also won the team Academic Achievement Award from the Ohio Valley Conference for having the highest percentage of athletes on the Conference's honor roll.

"Along with our team claiming the team OVC award for men's golf, this also shows our dedication to academics," Brown continued.

Brown commended SIUE's academic staff for the support they have provided his team.

"Jaci (DeClue) and Lindsey (Schmidt) in our academic office have done a great job with the guys, and we appreciate all the help they give us."
