SIUE Finishes 10th at Fairway Club Invitational
NEBRASKA City, Neb. – SIUE men's golf wrapped up its first tournament of the fall season Tuesday afternoon. The Cougars finished 10th of 12 participating teams at the Fairway Club Invitational, hosted by Nebraska. SIUE had a combined score of 940 for the three-round event, which took place at the ArborLins Golf Course.
The Huskers captured the team title with a combined 894.
Freshman Colin McCarty led the way for the Cougars. McCarty, playing in his first collegiate tournament, finished with a combined 228 (77-72-79) to finish the tournament in 19th place.
Taylor Cox tied for 30th with a combined 235. Mitchell Homb, also playing in his first collegiate tournament, completed the tournament with a 240, good for a tie for 46th. Grant Wynia finished with a 242 to tie for 51st. Alex Knoll shot a combined 249 for 62nd place.
Missouri State's Daily Young took individual honors with a three-under par 213.
SIUE is off until Saturday Oct. 1 when it travels to Normal, Ill. for the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, hosted by Illinois State.
