Cougars 12th After First Day at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – SIUE men's golf opened its second tournament of the fall season Saturday and sits in 12th place after two rounds at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate hosted by Illinois State. The Cougars combined score is 617 for the day.

 
Illinois is leading the team competition. The Illini shot a combined 570 (-7) over the first two rounds. They are the only team under par.
 
Freshman Mitchell Homb leads the way for the Cougars after the first day. Homb turned in a combined score of 150 Saturday. He was one over par after the first round.
Taylor Cox is tied for 44th with a 154. Alex Knoll is tied for 53rd with a 156. Grant Wynia has a 160 to tie for 66th. Colin McCarty is tied for 71st with a 161.
 
Illinois' Luke Guthrie leads the individual players with a nine-under par 135 after the first two rounds.
 
Play concludes Sunday at the Weibring Gold Club on the Illinois State campus.
