BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE senior forward Jalen Henry (Springfield, Illinois) has earned recognition as the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball co-Player of the Week after leading SIUE to a pair of road wins.
He averaged 25.5 points and 8.5 rebounds to lead the Cougars to their first ever two-game road sweep in OVC play.
Henry's week began with a career-high 35-point outburst Thursday at Eastern Kentucky. He scored the game's first 10 points, staking the Cougars to a lead they would never lose. He finished 13 of 18 (.722) from the field and 5 of 6 from three-point range. He added six rebounds, two steals and a block.
On Saturday, Henry collected his fourth double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 16 points and adding a game-best 11 rebounds to lead SIUE to its first-ever win at Morehead State. He added a block and a steal and did not commit a turnover.
Henry shared the award with Murray State's Jonathan Stark. The award is the first weekly award for Henry.
The Cougars return to the court Thursday for a 7 p.m. game against Belmont at the Vadalabene Center. The game will be televised live on FOX Sports Midwest.
