EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE Men's Basketball Head Coach Lennox Forrester has announced that Keaton Jackson (Vancouver, Wash.) has joined the program for the 2013-2014 season. Jackson joins the Cougars after spending the past two seasons at Missouri State-West Plains Community College.
Jackson, a 6-foot, 9-inch, 205 pound-power forward, was a two-year starter for the Grizzlies, who were 22-9 this past season. Jackson will have two years of eligibility for SIUE.
"We are very excited about welcoming Keaton Jackson to our Cougar family," Forrester said. "He will bring tremendous shot blocking, length, athleticism, and rebounding to our program. Keaton also is a very versatile scorer. He is able to score on the block as well as outside the paint."
As a sophomore, Jackson averaged 7.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. His 8.5 rebounds ranked 38th in NJCAA Division I. He also ranked 24th in NJCAA Division I with 2.4 blocks per game.
"Missouri State University-West Plains has given me an excellent opportunity to continue my education as well as my basketball career," Jackson said. "I have grown a lot in the last two years.
"SIUE is the right choice for me," he continued. "As soon as I stepped foot on campus, I knew it was where I needed to be. The coaches and players instantly made me feel like family."
Jackson was named to the All-NJCAA Region 16 first team this past year and also was honored as Missouri State-West Plains Male Athlete of the Year.
"We are extremely anxious to have the opportunity to work with Keaton for the next two years," Forrester said. "He is a first class citizen. He will represent our program, institution, and community in a first class manner."
