LAST TIME OUT
UT Martin connected on a season-high 57.8 percent of its shots and turned 15 SIUE turnovers into 19 points Saturday en route to a 77-68 win over SIUE in Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball at the Elam Center. SIUE got off to a good start and led 11-7 on a layup by Tim Johnson with 12:50 left in the first half, but UT Martin got a pair of three-pointers from Mike Liabo on back-to-back possessions to go ahead 13-11. The Cougars tied the game twice more in the first half but never led again in the game.
SCOUTING THE RACERS
Murray State has won three consecutive games, and seven of its last eight contests. The Racers are 9-2 in the OVC play this season. Murray State boasts the conference's leading scoring in Isaiah Cannan (21.0 ppg) and rebounder in Ed Daniel (10.8 rpg). The Racers lead the OVC's West Division by 4.5 games over Southeast Missouri. Murray State is 5 games ahead of SIUE. A win tonight would guarantee Murray State the top spot in the division and no worse than the second seed in the OVC Tournament.
This is the 12th meeting between the two schools in men's basketball. Tonight is the seventh meeting between the school's since SIUE joined the OVC. Murray State won the first meeting this season on Jan. 19 in Murray, Ky. The Cougars led that game 34-23 at haftime, before the Racers came back to win. Murray State has won 10 straight games in the series.
