College Sports Madness Honors Caldwell
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – College Sports Madness has named SIUE outfielder Devin Caldwell (Cottage Hills) as the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Caldwell, a sophomore, was 5 for 15 (.333) this past week helping SIUE to a sweep of UT Martin, its first OVC series sweep. He finished the week with two doubles, a triple, and an RBI. He led the team with nine total bases.
Caldwell had a double and two runs scored in Saturday's win. He capped the series with a 3 for 4 performance in Sunday's victory. He finished with two singles, a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
This is the second weekly award for the Cougars from College Sports Madness. Travis Becherer was also named Player of the Week following the season's first week. The entire list of weekly award winners is available on the College Sports Madness website.
SIUE will travel to Saint Louis for 6 p.m. game Wednesday. The Cougars play a three-game series at Murray State beginning Friday.
