SIUE Baseball Suspended Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – What began as a beautiful Saturday afternoon ended in a stormy evening and a suspended day of baseball at Simmons Baseball Complex.

SIUE and South Dakota State were scheduled to play a double header as part of a four-game series, but inclement weather forced an end to the baseball after only four innings of play in the first scheduled game. Prior to the fifth inning beginning, umpires cleared the field because of lightning. Heavy rain followed.

The game will be resumed beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, with South Dakota State leading 11-4. The two teams will then complete the series with a nine-inning game following the conclusion of the suspended game.
