The first Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for women, Rosemarie Archangel performed numerous duties for the University throughout her tenure, retiring as the Dean and Graduate Studies and Research. The first person hired with the title of "coach" at SIUE, she served as the head coach of volleyball, softball and field hockey teams.
