Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

The purpose of SAAC is to support the mission of Athletics by providing a forum in which student-athletes and administrators can enhance the athletics experience at SIUE for the student-athletes, the campus community, and the community-at-large through the examination of mutual interests and concerns. The committee is comprised of a representative and an alternate representative from each athletic team and athletic administrators. This group of student-athletes meets monthly.

2011-2012 SAAC Highlights
  • Provided volunteer support the race management of the Saint Louis Rock ‘n Roll  Marathon.
  • Collected more than 1700 canned goods and over $400 which were donated to State Park Food Pantry in Collinsville IL.
  • Participated in the Up Til Dawn Project preparing over 250 letters to raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
  • Hosted over 130 children from the community to participate in our annual Kid’s Night Out event.
  • Raised over $2000 for the Conference-wide initiative Hoops for Heroes, which sends local military veterans to the OVC Basketball Tournament for an expense paid weekend in Nashville Tennessee. Based off of the raised funds, four SIUE student military veterans were selected to attend, which is double the amount sent last year.
  • Joined campus Relay for Life event and contributed over $300 to the cause.
  • Partnered with campus Greek Life to organized the first ever Athletic Talent Show with over 300 in attendance.
