Katie Yearian, a 2008 and 2010 graduate of Southern Illinois
University Edwardsville, begins her first year as the Marketing
Specialist for the SIUE Athletics Department. Yearian has a wide
variety of athletic experience, most recently serving as the
graduate assistant for operations for SIUE women's soccer. She
coordinated the team's alumni relations and assisted in the
coordination of team travel, meals, and special events. While
completing her master's degree, Yearian served an internship with
SIUE Athletics, helping develop SIUE's web presence in web
streaming and auction sales. As the Marketing Specialist, Yearian
will assist in the ongoing efforts of the Athletics Department to
provide an integrated approach to media management with an emphasis
on licensing, branding, marketing and sales. She will also be
focused on fundraising and special event planning by strengthening
and cultivating relationships with University personnel, students,
alumni, and the surrounding community. As a student-athlete at
SIUE, Yearian started all 19 games in 2007 and tied for sixth in
scoring among Great Lakes Valley Conference teams with 23 points.
She recorded nine goals and five assists and earned first team
All-Great Lakes Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches
Association and second team All-Region honors from Daktronics. A
four-year letter winner for the Cougars, she also was honored as a
first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference pick her senior
season. Yearian totaled 12 goals and 13 assists in her four seasons
as a Cougar. She appeared in 78 games overall, 20 of them starting
assignments. A native of Waterloo, Yearian is the all-time leading
scorer at Waterloo High School. A four-time team Most Valuable
Player, she also earned All-Mississippi Valley Conference honors
four times. Yearian earned a bachelor's degree in business from
SIUE in December of 2008. She completed her master's degree (also
at SIUE) in Education specializing in Sports Management in August
2010.
