James Mays has been an assistant athletic trainer at SIUE since January 2007. Mays is a Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer and a Red Cross Professional Rescuer, certified in CPR/AED. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and has taught as a lecturer in the Kinesiology Department teaching "Responding to Emergencies: First Aid-CPR."

At SIUE, Mays' primary responsibilities include the men's soccer and softball programs.

Prior to joining the SIUE staff, Mays worked as an athletic trainer for Alton Memorial Hospital Human Motion Institute and a fitness center instructor for the Edwardsville YMCA.

Mays also holds a Master of Science in Education from the department of Kinesiolgy at SIUE. James and his wife, Rosa, have one daughter - two-year old-Leah.
