EDWARSVILLE, Ill. – Three SIUE athletics programs volunteered this past Saturday at the Glen Carbon School Fall Fest.
“It was fun to be able to give back and help out with the kids in our community,” said SIUE women’s basketball player Tierny Austin. “We enjoy these opportunities and appreciate being able to be a part of the event.”
The women’s basketball team helped with the “Minute to Win it” games as well as the tattoo station and the prize table.
“It was awesome. We had so much fun with it. The festival only comes once a year, and I know the kids were really looking forward to it,” said SIUE women’s tennis player Lindsey Raymond.
Women’s tennis helped with several booths, including a hair coloring station, while the baseball team was in charge of the bounce houses, the obstacle course, the snow cone machine, and the cotton candy machine.
“It was a great experience overall,” said SIUE Head Coach Tony Stoecklin. “The team had fun volunteering and interacting with the kids.”
“I think it is a good cause and a great event for the local area,” said SIUE women’s basketball player Valerie Finnin. “Our teammates enjoyed playing the games and just being able to interact with the kids.”
