What a Great Time to be a Cougar!
As we begin the 2009 year at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, our entire athletic family embraces the opportunity to provide our talented student-athletes with the best possible experience we can give them at the Division I level.
In Cougar Athletics, we not only believe in this mindset, we also apply it in both our vision and our actions. Having made the transition to Division I athletics as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and an affiliate member of the member of the Missouri Valley Conference (men's soccer), our university has made the commitment for our student-athletes to compete at the highest levels both in the classroom and on the playing field. In order to continue this momentum from this monumental decision, we look to you to help with that commitment as well.
We strive to provide our student-athletes with the best facilities to train and compete. The renovation of the Vadalabene Center was a landmark step for both our men's and women's basketball programs. The addition of a new state-of-the-art artificial turf for our track and soccer complex, completed this spring, will allow our student-athletes to virtually train and compete year-round outdoors.
Certainly, our plans do not stop there. We must continue to push forward and reinvest in our most precious resource-our student-athletes. Your gift sends a strong message about your commitment to the importance of providing the necessary resources for our student-athletes and their "world-class experience."
By virtue of YOUR GIFT to the Cougar Athletic Excellence Fund and to Athletics, you reinforce that commitment.
Again, thank you very much for your support.
With Cougar Pride,
Dr. Brad Hewitt
Director of Athletics
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Athletic Development
