Our entire athletics family at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville embraces the opportunity to provide our talented student-athletes with the best possible experience we can give them at the Division I level. We not only believe in this mindset, but we also apply it in our vision and our actions.

Having made the transition to Division I athletics as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and as associate members of the Missouri Valley Conference (men's soccer) and the Southern Conference (wrestling), our University has made the commitment for our student-athletes to compete at the highest levels both in the classroom and on the playing field. In order to continue momentum from this significant decision, we hope you will assist with that commitment as well.

We strive to provide our student-athletes with the best facilities in which to train and compete. The renovation of the Vadalabene Center was a landmark step for our men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, and wrestling programs. The addition of a new state-of-the-art artificial turf for our track and soccer complex, completed in 2009, allows our student-athletes to train and compete outdoors virtually year-round. SIUE soon will begin work on resurfacing the track at Korte Stadium. The SIUE softball team also celebrated the opening of its indoor hitting facility just west of Cougar Field.

Our plans do not stop there. We must continue to push forward and reinvest in our most precious resource--our student-athletes. Your gift will send a strong message about your commitment to the importance of providing the necessary resources for our student-athletes and their "world-class experience."

By virtue of your gift to the Cougar Athletics Excellence Fund (our general operating fund), you will reinforce that commitment. Thank you very much for any support you wish to offer.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bradley L. Hewitt
Director of Athletics
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Athletic Development
